The Capri Mk III, called Project Carla inside Ford, was little more than an update of the Capri II, with a front that previewed at the 1976 Geneva show, a black Aeroflow style grille and a rear spoiler. The first cars were available in March 1978. It faced falling demand as hot hatchbacks such as the Fiesta XR2, Escort XR3 and Sierra XR4i arrived, and from November 1984 it was made only in right hand drive for Britain. The last Capri came off the Cologne line in December 1986. Its model years run from 1978 to 1986.
