BMW 5 Series (E28)

Automobiles

The E28 was the second 5 Series, a car that kept the E12's lines but refined them under chief designer Claus Luthe. Pre series production started in April 1981 and the car was introduced in the autumn. It brought the first diesel BMW, the 524td, in 1983, anti lock brakes from 1984 and the first M5 in 1984, and the six series coupe was built on its platform. Its model years run from 1981 to 1988. Its engines ranged from four cylinder petrol units to the diesel 524td.
