BMW 5 Series (E12)

Automobiles

The E12 was the first 5 Series, introduced in 1972 as the replacement for the saloons of the New Class range. Paul Bracq led its design with Bertone's Marcello Gandini as co designer, and the car launched as the carburetted 520 and the injected 520i. Over nine years it grew to take in six cylinder models and the 528i, it gained a facelift in 1976 and it was assembled in Germany and South Africa. Its model years run from 1972 to 1981.
