The third-generation MDX began production on May 2, 2013 for the 2014 model year, with assembly moving from Ontario to Lincoln, Alabama. It had a 3.5 litre direct-injected V6 with cylinder management and offered front-wheel drive for the first time, plus Jewel Eye LED headlights first seen on the RLX. A nine-speed automatic replaced the six-speed for 2016, a facelift with the diamond pentagon grille followed for 2017, a Sport Hybrid joined in April 2017, and an A-Spec package arrived for 2019.
