The Mark 3 Astra was released in October 1991. The Astra was sold as a Holden first in New Zealand in 1995, and then in Australia in 1996, and the Holden Astra nameplate had originally been placed on a rebadged Nissan Pulsar first sold in Australia in 1984. Since 1991 Opel has used the Astra nameplate on its B and C platform. Its model years run from 1991 to 1998. It was the Vauxhall counterpart of the Opel Astra F, released in 1991.
