The Toyota Carina ED is a compact car that Toyota introduced in 1985 as a companion to the 1984 Carina sedan, positioned as the four door Celica with a luxury focus found on larger pillared hardtop sedans such as the Crown and the Mark II, Cresta and Chaser. It was only sold in Japan and was exclusive to Toyota Japan dealerships. It was built across three generations until production ended in April 1998, and the Brevis took over its market segment in 2001. The first generation sold 264,566 cars by August 1989. Generations with their own pages on this site: the first generation, T160 (1985 to 1989); the second generation, T180 (1989 to 1992); the third generation, ST200 (1993 to 1998).
