Toyota 86 (first generation, ZN6)

Automobiles

The production Toyota 86 debuted at the Tokyo show in December 2011, with development led by chief engineer Tetsuya Tada. All variants were built at Subaru's Gunma Main Plant. Assembly began on 2 February 2012, then sales started in March and deliveries in April, with 7,000 orders placed for the Toyota version in the first month. The design drew on the 2000GT. It was sold as the Scion FR-S in North America until August 2016, when the marque closed and the car became the Toyota 86 for the 2017 model year, and the Subaru BRZ twin was built until July 2020.
