Subaru R-2 (single generation)

Automobiles

The R-2 was a full model change of the Subaru 360 with an updated look and more room inside, introduced on 8 February 1969 and reaching customers in August. It used the same rear mounted air cooled two cylinder powertrain as the 360, a Van version from February 1970, and in October 1971 a water cooled two stroke engine, the EK34. Subaru kept the rear engine layout, which left more luggage space up front and room for four passengers. Its model years run from 1969 to 1972.
