Subaru R-2

The R-2 was a Subaru kei car sold from 1969 to 1972, a full model change of the popular Subaru 360 with an updated look and more interior space. It kept the rear mounted two cylinder engine of the 360, which gave the car its name, and a rear engine layout that left more room for luggage in front. A utilitarian hatchback Van and performance versions such as the R-2 SS followed, and a water cooled two stroke engine arrived in 1971.
