The Valiant was totally reskinned for 1963 with a wide, flat hood and a flat, square rear deck, on a slightly shorter wheelbase. It set a worldwide record for sales that year, and a new 273 cubic inch V8 became optional in mid-1964. The Dodge Lancer, almost identical to the Valiants of 1961 and 1962, was replaced by the Dart in 1963. New options such as a four speed manual with a Hurst shifter and a Sure-Grip limited slip differential arrived, and Valiants won rally championships in 1965 and 1966. Its model years run from 1963 to 1966.
