Plymouth supported a successful team of Valiant two door sedans in the 1966 SCCA Manufacturers Rally Championship as well, and 1966 was the last year of the second generation Valiant. The Valiant was redesigned for 1967 and its hardtop and convertible bodies went to the Barracuda. The A body Valiant used unequal length control arms with torsion bars at the front and a live axle on asymmetric leaf springs at the rear, a design Chrysler kept through the entire production of the Valiant and other A body models.
