The second Eterna appeared in May 1980 and dropped the Galant prefix to become the Eterna Sigma, with a small front radiator grille and different taillamps to set it apart from the Galant Sigma. Its image characters were singers and actresses of the time. It was still a rear wheel drive four door sedan, the sister of the Galant Sigma, sold at the Car Plaza stores of Mitsubishi in Japan. Its model years run from 1980 to 1982.
