After Edsel closed during the 1960 model year, Mercury ended its use of a division specific chassis and built the third generation Colony Park on Ford underpinnings, in line with the compact Comet. The change cost it about five inches in length, six inches in wheelbase and 500 pounds of curb weight against 1960, yet it remained the luxury level Mercury. It was the luxury level Mercury wagon, differentiated from the Commuter by woodgrain trim. Its model years run from 1961 to 1964.
