The Wagoneer was introduced in November 1962 for the 1963 model year as a successor to the Willys Jeep Station Wagon that had been built since 1946. Designed by a team led by industrial designer Brooks Stevens, it shared its SJ chassis with the Jeep Gladiator full size pickup truck. Over a single generation the SJ series Wagoneer was produced for 29 model years, as Jeep changed hands from Kaiser Motors to AMC to Chrysler, always at its Stickney Plant in Toledo, Ohio. Its model years run from 1963 to 1991.
