After 25 years of absence of a full size Holden coupe, the Monaro made a return in November 2001, following the overwhelming response of the public and media to the VT Commodore based Holden Coupe concept displayed at the 1998 Australian International Motor Show in Sydney. The third generation was produced from 2001 to 2006, and exported as the Chevrolet Lumina Coupe, the Vauxhall Monaro and the Pontiac GTO. Its model years run from 2001 to 2006.
