The Pontiac GTO was facelifted in 2005 to the updated VZ series Holden Monaro, and complaints from American consumers about its bland design led to the addition of twin hood scoops in 2005 with the VZ series Monaro. The revised rear bumper, dual exhaust system and new hood with air intakes of the Holden would soon find their way onto the export Pontiac GTO. In July 2005 Holden announced production would end by the start of 2006.
