The Pontiac GTO was released in 2004, its styling based on the VY series 2 Commodore version of the Holden Monaro, as a left hand drive export. The CV6 model was dropped after disappointing sales when the V2 Series 3 model appeared in 2004, and a revised CV8 R model appeared in May 2004, all 320 of which were made in an exclusive Pulse Red paint colour. The Pontiac GTO arrived in 2004 as a version of the Monaro for the United States.
