For 1977 Ford repackaged the Thunderbird from a full size car into an intermediate, giving up its full size luxury coupe role to the LTD Landau coupe. The car was built on the intermediate platform, reusing parts of the Elite, Montego and Cougar with all new styling, and was nearly ten inches shorter and 900 pounds lighter than before. The sharper styling and a price cut of 2,700 dollars made it the best selling Thunderbird generation. Each model year has its own page.
