In the last year of the seventh generation, sales were 295,000. A package called Heritage was available, with basically the same optional equipment as the 1978 Diamond Jubilee but only two colors, maroon or light medium blue, and it stayed available into the next two generations. All Thunderbirds received a new grille pattern and revised taillamps for 1979, before the car was downsized for 1980. The Heritage option remained available into the next two generations.
