Ford Thunderbird (eighth generation)

Automobiles

The eighth generation was introduced to mark the Thunderbird's 25th year and was heavily downsized onto a stretched Ford Fox platform, moving it into the mid size segment, shedding more than 25 inches of length and nearly 1,900 pounds from 1976. It was better handling and more economical, but critics and buyers disliked it and sales collapsed, with three years of production outselling 1979 alone by only 4,000 cars. Each model year has its own page.
