The fourth generation Escape debuted on 2 April 2019 and went on sale in the third quarter of 2019 as a 2020 model, built at the Louisville Assembly Plant in Kentucky and related to the third generation Kuga outside North America. It was lighter by over 200 pounds yet larger, with a base turbocharged three cylinder engine, a hybrid and a plug in hybrid. It was refreshed for the 2023 model year, and Ford announced in August 2025 that it would end after the 2026 model year. Its model years run from 2020 to 2026.
