The Escape was discontinued in the Middle East in 2022 and indirectly replaced by the Ford Territory, and in Mexico the EcoBoost engine was dropped for 2022, making the Escape a hybrid only model there. Ford announced a refreshed Escape lineup for the North American market in October 2022 for the 2023 model year. The United States offered five trims from 2020 to 2022. The refreshed car would go on sale for the 2023 model year with reworked EcoBoost engines.
