The first Bronco was a compact off road vehicle on its own 92 inch wheelbase chassis, conceived by product manager Donald Frey, who also conceived the Mustang, and approved by Lee Iacocca in February 1964. It was sold only with four wheel drive, as a two door wagon, a half cab pickup and an open roadster, aimed at the Jeep CJ-5 and International Scout. It launched in August 1965 with a 170 cubic inch six, and ran to 1977. Each model year has its own page.
