In a minor revision for 1977 the exterior mounted fuel tank caps were replaced behind hinged doors, as on all other Ford trucks. This was the final year of the first generation Bronco, which was replaced for 1978 by a full size model derived from the F-Series. The original Bronco was an off road vehicle that had competed against the Jeep CJ-5, the International Scout and the Toyota Land Cruiser. It had been sold since August 1965.
