The Aerostar was Ford's first minivan, a rear wheel drive van sold in the United States and Canada for the 1986 to 1997 model years. It came as a passenger van and a cargo van, with an extended length body from 1989 and an all wheel drive option from 1990, and it competed with the Chevrolet Astro and the Chrysler minivans. The front wheel drive Windstar joined it in 1995 and replaced it after 1997.
