The Bel Air name was first used from 1950 to 1952 only for the two door hardtops of the Chevrolet range, to tell the car from the Styleline and Fleetline models. With the 1953 model year Chevrolet renamed its series and Bel Air became the premium trim level across a number of body styles, including the convertible, the sedans and, in 1954, the Beauville station wagon. These cars used similar frames and mechanicals to the 1949 to 1952 Chevrolets. Its model years run from 1950 to 1954.
