The Bel Air Sport Coupe name was used in 1950, 1951 and 1952 only for the two door hardtops in the Chevrolet model range, to distinguish the car from the Styleline and Fleetline models. The name therefore began as a designation for a unique body shape rather than a level of trim, which it would become only in 1953. The 1950 model differed from the 1951 and 1952 cars, which had higher and squarer rear guards across the whole range.
