BMW 507 (single generation)

Automobiles

The 507 was a single generation, conceived by the American automobile importer Max Hoffman, who in 1954 persuaded BMW management to produce a roadster version of the 501 and 502 saloons to fill the gap between the expensive Mercedes-Benz 300 SL and the cheap, underpowered Triumph and MG sports cars. In November 1954, at Hoffman's insistence, BMW contracted the designer Albrecht von Goertz to design the 503 and the 507. Its model years run from 1956 to 1959.
