In 2020 the S-Max carried the facelift introduced the year before and offered only the 2.0 litre EcoBlue diesel in several states of tune, with no petrol engine in the range. It was still sold as a seven seat MPV with Zetec, Titanium and Titanium Sport trims. The S-Max was a Ford designed mid size people carrier that shared parts with the Galaxy and the Mondeo, and it was sold only in Europe. Ford marketed it both as a multi purpose vehicle and as a sports activity vehicle, aimed at buyers who wanted space without giving up driving fun.
