In Canada a manual transmission was available with the 2.5 liter Base and Touring models until 2017. The Outback of 2017 was in the third year of the fifth generation, a raised station wagon with all wheel drive and EyeSight with the Legacy wagons as the donor. Most versions of the Outback wagon have had all wheel drive as standard equipment. Elsewhere the Outback became a free standing model line of its own, independent of the Legacy.
