For 2000 the Escort station wagon was discontinued, replaced by the Ford Focus wagon, and the SE and LX trims were consolidated to a single unnamed trim for the sedan as Ford ended retail sale of the Escort. The Mercury Tracer was discontinued and Mercury did not market a version of the Focus, so within three months the division's car line was down to the Sable and Grand Marquis. The coupe was renamed the Ford ZX2, and 2,000 ZX2 S/R models were sold for 2000.
