In 2000 the Viper engine was updated to use lighter hypereutectic pistons and the car received factory frame improvements, although owners preferred forged pistons for the supercharged and turbocharged aftermarket packages. The Viper GTS-R scored an overall victory at the 24 Hours of Daytona in 2000 and a third consecutive class win at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, and the Dynamics Koni shocks replaced the earlier ones on the ACR package.
