The Vivio ended in October 1998 after a run of just under seven years, and the Pleo took its place as Subaru's kei car. A carbureted Vivio of 42 PS was sold in Japan in the Van versions, the two seater and the ef-s. Some entrants still run Vivios at the Rally Japan round of the WRC. The Vivio was available with a variety of 658 cc naturally aspirated or supercharged four-cylinder Clover engines. The name Vivio refers to the engine's displacement of 660 written in an approximation of Roman numerals.
