In 1997 the Vivio line included the Bistro family and the sporty RX-R, with the twin cam RX-R and the RX-RA widely used for rallying in Japan. The supercharged cars were rated at 64 PS with the ECVT, and the model was nearing the end of its run, with the Pleo due to take over its place within a year. Aside from the top-of-the-line RX-R, all engines were SOHC 8-valve designs. The suspension setup used was inspired by the Legacy.
