In 1990 a driver's side airbag was introduced as standard equipment on the Grand Marquis to comply with new federal safety regulations, and the interior underwent a second major revision. The Grand Marquis was in the GS and LS trims, powered by the 4.9 liter V8 with fuel injection, and built at St. Thomas Assembly, with the Ford Crown Victoria and Lincoln Town Car. It was a six passenger sedan with a front bench seat and a V8 engine.
