The Otosan Taunus of 1986 was easily distinguished from the German car by its remolded front and back panels. It was made in Turkey by Ford Otosan from the production assembly bought from Argentina, and it carried on the Cortina and Taunus design that ended in Europe in 1982. The Taunus was the family car of Ford Germany, sold under the 12M, 15M, 17M, 20M and 26M names over several generations. It was named after the Taunus mountain range in Germany and was often a close relative of a British Ford.
