In 1985 the Turkish Ford Otosan began to build the Taunus using the production assembly sold from Argentina, as the Otosan Taunus. It was a version of the Taunus TC that had been made for the Argentine market for ten years, and the Turkish car was changed from the original. It was named after the Taunus mountain range in Germany and was often a close relative of a British Ford. The Taunus was the family car of Ford Germany, sold under the 12M, 15M, 17M, 20M and 26M names over several generations.
