Luxury image branding was further enhanced when the Toyota Soarer performance luxury coupe was introduced in February 1981, and the Cresta's appearance was updated to make it look similar. The Cresta stayed the top level car at the Vista Store. It was the last model year covered for the Toyota Cresta (first generation, X50 and X60), 1980 to 1983, and the Toyota Cresta (second generation, X70) came next, following the 1980 model year.
