1956 Plymouth Belvedere

Automobiles

Plymouth styling evolved from the 1955 cars for 1956, with the first push button automatic transmission in an American automobile and a more dramatic rear end with a pair of rakish tailfins. In early 1956 the Fury joined the Belvedere line as a special edition high performance coupe, seat belts were added, and V8 options ranged from 180 to 200 horsepower, with 240 horsepower for the Fury. Chrysler also drove a Belvedere across the country with a gas turbine engine.
