Hudson's priority for 1947 was building cars to meet postwar demand, not yearly redesign, and it was already developing an entirely new car, so changes were limited to a chrome nameplate on the trunk lid, exterior door locks on both sides and a small lip on the triangle medallion above the grille. Production of the Commodore Eight rose to 12,593 cars from 8,193 the year before. This second generation lasted just two years before its replacement.
