De Havilland Canada

Vehicle and Equipment Manufacturers

De Havilland Canada (DHC) is a Canadian aircraft manufacturer. The original de Havilland Aircraft of Canada, Limited was created in 1928 by the British de Havilland Aircraft Company to build Moth aircraft for the training of Canadian airmen, and after the Second World War it designed and built its own aircraft suited to the Canadian operating environment, working at Downsview in Toronto. The Canadian government privatized it in 1986 and sold it to Boeing, and Bombardier Aerospace bought it in 1992 and kept the Dash 8 line in production. Viking Air bought the type certificates for the original designs in 2006, and in 2019 Longview Aviation Capital took over the Dash 8 programme and the de Havilland name, forming De Havilland Aircraft of Canada Limited, which builds the Twin Otter, the Dash 8 and the DHC-515 Firefighter and plans a new factory in Wheatland County, Alberta.
