De Havilland Canada DHC-6 Twin Otter Series 300

General Aviation and Light Aircraft

The DHC-6 Series 300 was introduced by de Havilland Canada in 1969, beginning with serial number 231, and became by far the most successful variant of the Twin Otter, the Canadian twin turboprop STOL utility aircraft. Fitting the more powerful PT6A-27 engines, a 680 horsepower unit flat rated to 620 horsepower for this aircraft, improved both performance and payload. The Series 300 and its subvariants, among them the Series 310 for United Kingdom operators and the Series 320 for Australian operators, totalled 614 aircraft sold before production in Toronto by de Havilland Canada ended in 1988. The Canadian Armed Forces CC-138 search and rescue aircraft and the United States Air Force Academy parachute training UV-18B are based on it.
