De Havilland Canada DHC-6 Twin Otter Series 100

General Aviation and Light Aircraft

The DHC-6 Series 100 was the first production series of the de Havilland Canada Twin Otter, the Canadian twin turboprop STOL utility aircraft developed from 1964 as a twin-engine successor to the single-engine DHC-3 Otter. The first six aircraft built were prototypes designated Series 1, and the Series 100 production run that followed covered serial numbers seven to 115. It was powered by two 550 shaft horsepower Pratt and Whitney PT6A-20 turboprop engines, the engine whose availability in the early 1960s made a twin-engine version of the concept practical. A Series 110 variant was built to conform to British Civil Air Regulations. Series 200 production replaced it in 1968, beginning with serial number 116.
