The second generation Highlander and Highlander Hybrid were shown at the Chicago show in 2007, with American sales starting that July as a 2008 model and hybrids in September. At first the only engine was a 3.5 liter V6 of 270 horsepower, a four cylinder came back in 2009, and from the 2010 model year production for most of North America moved to Princeton, Indiana. A front end update followed for 2011, and the Kluger was launched in Australia in August 2007.
