Toyota unveiled the third generation XU50 at the New York show on 27 March 2013, so the second generation went out of production. Japanese production of the second generation ended in 2013, and Toyota Motor Sales USA took over building the Kluger for Australia and New Zealand. It was the last model year covered for the Toyota Highlander (second generation, XU40), 2008 to 2013, and the Toyota Highlander (third generation, XU50) came next, following the 2012 model year. Model year pages for the Toyota Highlander run from 2001 to 2026.
