Toyota Highlander (first generation, XU20)

Automobiles

The XU20 Highlander was announced in New York in April 2000. It reached Japan as the Kluger late that year and North America in January 2001, with five seats from the start and a seven seat version from 2004, and it was a success for Toyota in many markets. A 3.3 liter V6 and five speed automatic arrived for 2004 to compete with the Nissan Murano and Honda Pilot, and the Highlander Hybrid was offered from July 2005 as a 2006 model.
