The Freelander 2, internally L359, was first shown at the British International Motor Show in 2006 and was sold from 2007 as the Freelander 2 in Europe and the LR2 in North America and the Middle East. It was a five-door only, built at Halewood on Ford's EUCD platform, with a Volvo 3.2-litre six-cylinder petrol engine and a PSA 2.2-litre turbodiesel, a version of the Terrain Response system and a Haldex four-wheel-drive coupling. From the 2011 model year a two-wheel-drive eD4 was offered, the first in Land Rover's history, and the 2013 model year added new styling. Production ended in 2014 and the Discovery Sport replaced it.
