In the 2011 model year Land Rover offered for the first time a two-wheel-drive-only Freelander, the eD4, with Terrain Response and Hill Descent Control omitted, a combined economy of 47 miles per gallon and carbon dioxide emissions of 158 grams per kilometre. In 2011 the Range Rover Evoque was introduced, with three-door versions succeeding the two-door Freelanders and competing with the eD4, being cheaper, more efficient and more premium, with standard four-wheel drive.
