In August 1977 a facelifted Transit, called the Mark II, debuted with a restyled, longer nose that could accommodate an in line engine, the Pinto, in place of the Essex and Cologne V4s. Australia could have locally built 4.1 liter six cylinder engines from September 1978. The York diesel was redesigned in 1984 as a direct injection unit, and a four wheel drive version, the SIRA, was added in Germany in 1982. It was replaced by the one box VE6 in 1986. Its model years run from 1978 to 1985.
