From September 1978 Australian Transits could be had with locally built 4.1 liter inline six cylinder engines, as part of the Mark II range that began in August 1977 with a longer, restyled nose that took the in line Pinto engine instead of the old Essex and Cologne V4s. The van was a facelift, called the Transit 1978 and a half inside Ford, and production at Southampton, Genk and Amsterdam continued.
